Plainsboro,
New Jersey - November 17, 2004
MapText, Inc. announced today that its
Label-EZ text placement software has proved extremely
useful for producing FEMA Standard Digital Flood Insurance Rate
Maps (DFIRMs) for Watershed Concepts, a leading national water
resources management firm.
Watershed Concepts has been using
MapText's software since October 2003 to attain rapid, high-quality
text placement within a GIS environment to produce DFIRMs. Challenged
with the need to smoothly migrate map production from a CAD-based
system to a GIS-based system, Watershed Concepts selected MapText's
software because of its ability to accurately and quickly produce
text output within strict government and state map standards as part
of their comprehensive DFIRM creation process. They now use MapText
exclusively to create text compatible with ESRI's ArcGIS software.
Watershed Concepts has also taken advantage
of working closely with MapText to create unique solutions required to
adhere to set data standards. Because of the emphasis placed on automation
in Watershed Concept's workflow, using MapText allows for greater efficiency
and a higher level of quality assurance throughout their DFIRM production process.
MapText's market-leading software system,
Label-EZ, places text automatically on maps of any scale and
style according to the highest cartographic standards and user preferences,
extremely quickly and cost-effectively.
MapText has revolutionized the text
placement portion of our workflow, through automation and the ability to
track and maintain data integrity, said Kristen MacDougall,
GIS Specialist at Watershed Concepts. We are delighted to have
the opportunity to work so closely with MapText to integrate this
technology into our production processes.
MapText is pleased to have yet
another satisfied client. MapText is fully dedicated to providing the
highest cartographic quality while maintaining a high degree of flexibility
and configurability in placing text on maps. We are glad that this unique
combination proved extremely useful for Watershed Concepts,
Dr. Herbert Freeman, President of MapText, Inc. commented.
