The County of San Mateo, California, selected
MapText's cartographic text
placement solutions for both their printed map production as well as their web
mapping applications.
San Mateo County was actively looking for cartographic labeling products to
create high-quality printed maps within GeoMedia environment. They also
had a need to improve the quality of maps being served using their GeoMedia
WebMap-based web applications.
MapText proved to be the one-stop-shop for the County. MapText's Label-EZ
software provided the County’s users with the highest cartographic quality
text placement, great flexibility, and advanced capabilities such as leadering,
key-numbering, stacking, route shield placement, and much more. These
capabilities enable the County of San Mateo to produce cartographic-quality
maps with minimal post-editing. The software seamlessly integrates into any
existing workflow across multiple GIS platforms.
With MapText's Label-Web, GeoMedia WebMap users can have
aesthetic maps of the highest cartographic quality in a dynamic on-the-fly
manner. The software places text in accordance with cartographic rules and
conventions, avoids text-to-text and text-to-feature overlap (unless expressly
allowed), and ensures unambiguous text-to-feature association. Most
importantly, it achieves aesthetic, high-quality label placement so as to
enhance rapid visual comprehension, while maintaining high performance
suitable for interactive display over the Internet. Label-Web can be
easily integrated into a server-side script by adding a few lines of code to
include the Label-Web application and initiate the text placement.
