| New Zealand’s Rodney District Council
Selects MapText’s Labeling Solution |

Plainsboro,
New Jersey - August 13, 2008
Rodney
District Council, New Zealand, selected MapText's high-quality cartographic
text placement software for its GeoMedia-based mapping operations.
The District's GIS team faced challenges to produce high quality maps and a
new road index. The District is made up of both rural and highly urbanized
areas, which can make label placement tricky due to widely varying label
density. In the near future, the District will also use Label-EZ to generate
cartographic-quality maps
of their underground water pipe networks.
MapText's flagship Label-EZ software places labels with the highest
cartographic quality, closely approximating the capabilities of experienced
cartographers. The software is compatible with all major GIS systems, and is
extremely fast: dense maps with thousands of labels are usually labeled within
seconds or minutes. The need for manual post-editing is minimal, which makes
Label-EZ an extraordinary productivity tool for anyone creating high-quality
maps.
"With using Label-EZ, we have been able to produce a high quality
cartographic output of our road map at a fraction of the time and cost that it
would have taken to manually place the road name labels - in fact, without
Label EZ, we probably would not have attempted this project at this stage due
to other time pressures
for our work," Neville Perrie, GIS Manager at Rodney District Council,
commented.
