Organizations Select MapText Software for Web Mapping Applications |
|
Plainsboro,
New Jersey - December 12, 2007
MapText, Inc. announced today that several
prestigious transportation, utilities, and water management organizations
recently adopted the company's dynamic label placement solution for their web
mapping applications.
MapText has been consistently extending its reach into the utility and
transportation markets with Label-Web, the company's high-quality text
placement engine that labels web-based maps on the fly in a GeoMedia WebMap
environment.
As a result of the market's increasing awareness of Label-Web, MapText
recently sold several licenses of the software to several organizations
worldwide.
The prestigious list of transportation organizations includes District 2 of
the Ohio Department of Transportation, New Jersey Transit, and the Kansas
Department of transportation. The Ohio DOT uses Label-Web for their internal
web mapping applications, the Kansas DOT for their KannRoad and KGATE
applications, and NJ Transit for their web-based bus-route-planning system.
Label-Web is also expanding in the utilities markets: Aurora Energy of
Tasmania, Australia, has purchased Label-Web through Intergraph's
Australian office. The San Jose Water Company and the Hunter Water Corporation
of New South Wales, Australia, also recently purchased Label-Web
licenses for their web-based water management applications.
These organizations are using Label-Web, tightly integrated with Intergraph's
GeoMedia WebMap, to achieve exceptionally fast and high-quality text placement
for their web mapping applications. They benefit greatly from the high
cartographic and aesthetic quality of the resulting web maps.
Label-Web places text in accordance with cartographic rules and
conventions, avoids text-to-text and text-to-feature overlap (unless expressly
allowed), and ensures unambiguous text-to-feature association. Most
importantly, it achieves aesthetic, high-quality label placement so as to
enhance rapid visual comprehension, while maintaining high performance
suitable for display over the Internet.
Label-Web can be easily integrated into a server-side script by adding
a few lines of code to include the Label-Web application and initiate the text
placement. The end result is always an aesthetically labeled high-quality map.
