| MapText to Release Label-EZ Version 4.8 - a
Major Revision of its Multi-GIS Text Placement System |
|
Plainsboro,
New Jersey - May 31, 2006
Label-EZ 4.8 represents a major revision and
incorporates numerous enhancements and powerful new capabilities. Label-EZ
became easier to use and interfaces to several new or upgraded GIS systems
were added, including GeoMedia and GeoMedia Professional 6.0, Adobe
Illustrator CS2, and AutoDesk Map 3D 2006. The release will be available by
June 2, 2006.
These are just some highlights of the numerous
new capabilities of Label-EZ 4.8:
- Pre-placed text layers can now be imported, in
addition to feature layers.
- You can specify symbols to be placed as part
of the label for area and point features as well as line features.
- Enhanced support for European style cased
roads allows you to place labels aligned either to the middle or to the
bottom edge of the road feature.
- You can specify exclusion polygons – area
feature classes whose features are to be treated as exclusion zones for
label placement.
- You can specify the minimum angle at which
label text can cross a line feature or area feature boundary when executing
the OVERLINE command.
- The minimum acceptable separation of an area
feature label from the feature boundary can be specified, and so can the
preferred inter-character spacing that is used with character spread for
area feature label placement.
- Geographic key grouping allows you to select
an area feature class whose features will be used to group the key numbers.
- A more intelligent SUPPRESS command places
suppressed labels in a manner consistent with users’ expectations.
- When generating output for Adobe Illustrator,
the system allows you to specify complex line styles – such as a railroad
line style.
- A number of enhancements were made to enrich
the labeling experience, such as a feature-class-level statistics report in
the Label-EZ job run log and new expression operators.
