MapText Wins Contract from Michael Baker Jr. Inc.

Plainsboro, New Jersey - July 7, 2004

MapText, Inc., the leader in high-quality cartographic text placement software announced today that it was awarded a contract by Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. to deliver automated text placement solutions under Baker’s landmark five-year $750 million contract with the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

Baker will act as Program Manager to develop, plan, manage, implement, and monitor the Multi-Hazard Flood Map Modernization (MHFMM) Program for flood hazard mitigation across the United States and its territories. MapText’s easy-to-configure software solutions will be used to place names on those maps according to the highest cartographic standards. MapText will also work with Baker to customize its flagship Label-EZ™ text placement software to specific cartographic requirements.
