New Jersey - July 14, 2004
MapText, Inc., the leader in high-quality
cartographic text placement software announced today that the Georgia
Department of Transportation as well as the Louisiana Department of
Transportation have recently procured Label-EZ, the company’s
flagship product for automated cartographic label placement.
The two state DOTs now join five others –
Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, New Mexico, and Pennsylvania – who have within
the past year adopted the company’s chief product, Label-EZ, for
producing high-quality maps. The Louisiana Department of Transportation
has a staff of approximately 5,300 with an annual budget of more than
$1.2 billion and is responsible for highway maintenance and construction,
inter-modal transportation and water resources, as well as flood control
programs. The Georgia Department of Transportation has an annual budget of
nearly $2 billion, and its transportation system encompasses 113,995 miles of
public roads and 4,849 miles of railroad.
The two DOTs selected MapText’s Label-EZ
technology primarily to create:
- Travel maps
- Traffic volume maps
- County map series
- Right-of-way maps
- Other custom maps
MapText’s easy-to-configure software solutions
will be used to place names on those maps according to the highest cartographic
standards quickly and cost-effectively. MapText’s high-end Label-EZ product is
fully compatible with all major GIS systems.
The fact that these prestigious DOTs
selected our software solutions proves again that MapText’s label placement
technology can generate enormous cost savings and productivity gain, while
providing uncompromising cartographic quality, commented Dr. Herbert
Freeman, President of MapText, Inc.
