Plainsboro,
New Jersey - March 22, 2004
The National Mapping Authority of Denmark, KMS (Kort &
Martrikelstyrelsen), has procured MapText, Inc.'s Label-EZ and Label-Edit
software to be used for automatic text placement in their topographic map
production system. Label-EZ will be used in conjunction with GeoMedia
Pro for the generation of high-quality topographic maps at 1:50k scale from
the TOP10DK data.
Prior to procuring Label-EZ, KMS used ESRI’s
Maplex® software for performing text placement for some of their products. The
decision to select Label-EZ with GeoMedia Pro for the production system was
made after a thorough evaluation. Label-EZ was chosen because of it's rich
functionality and an open structure. The MapText staff along with Intergraph
Danmark worked closely with the KMS staff during the evaluation in getting the
products installed, setting up the rule sets for achieving high quality
placement, and training the users to make best use of the products.
MapText recently completed a three-day training session
in Denmark for KMS staff to help them master the Label-EZ and
Label-Edit products, with special emphasis on setting rules for
the 1:50k topographic map series. KMS plans to extend the production system
to use Label-EZ for other mapping projects.
