Label-EZ™, a leading productivity tool, places text on maps and charts automatically, without any human intervention, eliminating the need for manual text placement. The software employs rule-based label placement methods that emulate an experienced human cartographer, and thus, provide superior cartographic quality when compared with other methods.

Placement is in full conformance with applicable cartographic specifications and conventions - without text overlap, without ambiguity, and with a high degree of aesthetic quality. Conflict resolution is checked over all map layers. And when finished, Label-EZ automatically generates an index file!

Label-EZ uses configuration files to guide the placement of text for a particular map type. These files store the applicable cartographic placement rules and preferences. Changing from the production of one map type to another merely requires selection of the appropriate configuration file. Configuration files are created and edited via an easy-to-use graphical user interface to meet special mapping needs.

Label-EZ will, if so directed by the configuration file, automatically reduce font size, place names with leaders, or use key numbers if no other possibility for overprint-free placement is possible.

Compatible with a broad range of input formats, Label-EZ runs under Windows NT 4.0, 2000, and XP. The current version of the software works seamlessly with map data from:

ArcGIS® 8.x and 9

ArcInfo®

ArcView®

Autodesk Map®

GeoMedia®

MapInfo®

MicroStation®

MGE®

with interfaces to other GIS systems to be released in the near
    future.
